So Chris Pirillo just setup Seattle Social Central: A Twitter-like service, but focued around those in and around the Seattle area. This social media site setup by him runs on laconi.ca, so those who use applications such as Twhirl (me being one of them) can read and post updates to the micro-blogging service.

So how would one go into Twhirl and set up Seattle Social Central? It’s just like setting up any other account in Twhirl, just with one slight change:

1. Open the accounts dialog (click on the top left hand twhirl icon in a twhirl window)
2. Select “laconi.ca” from the drop-down list at the bottom left hand corner
3. In the box that says “Enter screen name…”, type in YourScreenName@seattle.socialcentral.net (Example: My screen name is BradButner, so I would enter BradButner@seattle.socialcentral.net)
4. Press Return or click the “+” button to add the account
5. Select the new account in the list and click on “Connect” to open a window for this account
6. Enter your password
7. Victory! You may want to click on the little star icon at the bottom to see the public timeline.

How about Ping.FM? EASY.

1. Sign into Ping.FM
2. In the left column, click on “Add More Networks”
3. In the right column (near the bottom), click on “Add Network” next to “Laconi.ca”
4. For server, enter: seattle.socialcentral.net
5. Enter your Seattle Social Media username/password
6. Submit!
